And this is what the Celebrities had to say
May 1st 2008 03:21
So as promised I caught up with whichever celebrities I could gain access to their dressing rooms at last week's MTV Australia Awards to find out what they thought about the best music videos and pump up songs of all time.
Here's what they had to say.
Anthony Mundine; WBA Super Middleweight Champion.
What makes a good music video? For me, just the truth. I think if you see a video and it captures your imagination and you can put yourself in that situation, that makes the best video clip.
Best Pump Up Song before a Fight? Eye of the Tiger. You can't beat it. Once you watch the Rocky movies, you can't go past it.
Jason Coleman; Judge on Australia's So You Think You Can Dance.
Best Music Video Ever? Of all time? Thats such a hard question, it's like whats your favourite food or colour. So much choice! Thriller was such a start of a whole generation of filming videos. As a dancer, where do you go from there?
Smooth Criminal is another big one. You really can't go wrong with MJ. And the modern Michael Jackson is Justin Timberlake. I love how modern and honest everything he does is.
I'm so tragically pop aswell, I love the Toxic era of Britney Spears. All these people are a little off the rails now but they were really cool once before!
Deni Hines; Daughter of Marcia Hines and Popstar in her own right.
Best Music Video Ever? Easy, Teardrops by Massive Attack!
Best Pump-Up Song? Something by Earth Wind and Fire, In the stone!"
Tim Cahill; Socceroo and Everton Footballer.
Best Music Video Ever? Mariah Carey's clips. Something like Honey cause she's so gorgeous. That's off the top of my head.
Best Pump-Up Song before a game? Whats that Men at Work, the aussie song, our Aussie Anthem? Come from the Land down under! The best!
Cameron Knight; Comedian.
Best Comedy Song? Medium Pace by Adam Sandler or Fuck her Gently by Tenacious D. I really enjoyed that.
Best Music Video Ever? That really sexy one that Massive Attack did. I saw it when I was like 16 and it had nudity and strippers. Or, Girls on Film by Duran Duran!
Kisschasy; One of Australia's leading rock bands.
Best Music Video Ever? The radiohead one with the guy on the ground. Radiohead have a history of good clips, but Just by Radiohead is the best. There's a clip by the Tom Tom Club called Genuis of Love and it's fucking trippy as. Also, Weezer, Island in the sun. Lots of Animals, Very nice.
Pump-Up Song before a Gig? Anything by Cameo, of course. And Kisschasy, Opinions won't keep you warm at night.
Nathan Sampsford, Video Hits Host
Greatest Video Clip? I've got a few. Thriller's a bit boring, everyone says thriller. I watched this Atmosphere one of the other day. Really slo-mo, kinda like a disaster going on. There's this great new one by a chick called Santo Gold. Kinda like MIA musically, but American, really interesting. You know the Operator Please video with the drumsticks flying everywhere? Kinda like that but more props rather than paint. So they rip someone's heart out but it's like streams coming out, Cute. Clever. Really Funny.
Best Pump-Up Song? Bit of Velvet Revolver, that ones gonna get you reved up.
Lindsay Rodriguez; MTV America
Best Music Video Ever? Foo Fighters, Everlong. Becuase the song itself is Amazing. There's Dave Grohl who is just so sexy and georgeous. It's really well directed and yeah, black and white. What else could you want?
Seany B; Australian DJ and Singer
Best Music Video Ever? Greatest film clip has to be Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson. Easy.
Best Pump-Up Song? Barbie Girl by Aqua! It's the only song I get dressed to when I'm trying to feel really butch.
